October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In celebration of the work our communities are doing to keep families safe from domestic violence, Shanti Hot Yoga is curating a special evening of wellness and empowerment, through movement, education and meditation. We are going to Punch for Peace! Literally!

Yoga instructor, Thomas Taubman, will lead us through his special Yo- Box® class. Yo-Box is an awesome and unique workout that combines the power, speed, coordination and cardio fitness of boxing, with the strength, flexibility and stress relieving techniques of yoga. It is the perfect combination of Yin and Yang. Thomas' philosophy is that when we move, everything else will improve. Through movement we can transform our negative feelings, into more positive, powerful and productive emotions. This class will help us experience our full potential in our minds, body and spirit. We punch for peace!

This event is open to all and will consist of a lecture, meditation, and inspiration! We have some great raffles and giveaways. Bring a yoga mat, water and a change of clothes if necessary. Light refreshments from local vendors will be served post class. All proceeds for the evening will be donated to Peace Over Violence.

Peace Over Violence is a nonprofit 501c3, multicultural, community based and volunteer centered organization dedicated to building healthy relationships, families and communities free from sexual, domestic and interpersonal violence. We are dedicated to the elimination of sexual and domestic violence and all forms of interpersonal violence. We provide crisis intervention services and violence prevention education. One on one, we listen, counsel, support, guide and work to heal survivors of violence. One by one, we teach teens about healthy relationships, train girls in self-defense, instruct boys in conflict resolution, and advise on public policy. We organize and we advocate. Not only do we believe—we know that violence is preventable. To achieve this mission our agency manages five departments delivering the services of Emergency, Intervention, Prevention, Education and Advocacy. “We know that violence is preventable.”
