Event description

Description

On November 4th, Scraps-to-Soil will host the 9th Annual Pumpkin SMASH, one of the most exciting community events in the area! Every fall, locals and visitors are invited to bring their spent jack-o-lanterns after Halloween to smash them in a variety of amusing ways to then be composted by Scraps-to-Soil volunteers! It is a free, family-friendly event that brings awareness to composting and other sustainability ideas in a fun and engaging setting.

The Pumpkin SMASH is more than a way to generate goodwill and attract new business, it is a cause that benefits everybody! The EPA says you can reuse/upcycle between 60-80% of the waste you produce every day. We work to inspire residents, stake holders and local officials to take a look at what a composting option in the County could do for us. Making compost available for use in public spaces, residential & commercial properties and on soil remediation projects in abandoned mines and road projects all over the county. We could be generating energy from the gas product of anaerobic composting and creating liquid fertilizer! There are so many opportunities in front of us! The Pumpkin Smash is the event that keeps this conversation going in Clear Creek County.
