Event description

Description

Final Pump performance by:
Jonghee Woo and DREAM WALKER
DREAM WALKER is an interdisciplinary creative artist group that creates new artistic experiences by bringing together emerging professionals from various nationalities and fields of practice. They believe the performing arts can create an extraordinary connection between artist and audience capable of making the world a better place. They dream a world where people, art, and technology are truly harmonized.

Margaret Noble
Margaret Noble’s experimental artworks have been exhibited nationally and internationally. Her interdisciplinary work resides at the intersection of sound, sculpture, installation and performance. Drift is a participatory installation which provides the user an experience of dissociative roaming between real and simulated stimuli through binaural sound, touch, motion, and audience.

One night only interactive installation/performances by:
Johnny Shield
While performing Body of Work, in front of a gallery audience, Johnny Shield applies his signature and date on the bottom of his foot and then presents his foot in a purpose-built pedestal. This pedestal will hid his legs and waist and present his foot as a standard three-dimensional art object. Sound, smell and visual connection through the medium of tattooing will allow him to connect to the physical art audience.

Dream Walker
DREAMSCAPE is a new, multimedia artistic attempt to integrate art and technology, incorporating video, sound, dance, theater, and live performance in order to capture true liveness and creativity. The main concept of the project was originally inspired by John Cage's Variations VII — one of the greatest performances in modern performing arts history — which was first performed in 1966 as part of a nine-evening concert series in New York. It was largely stochastic and of indeterminate length, making use of unrecorded, technologically-produced/electrically-amplified sound, and was the product of collaboration with artists from various fields of practice, including theater artists, dancers, musicians, and engineers.

This is one many events in an array of exhibits, presentations, and performances will isolate or link our senses and ways of perceiving. Produced by FLOOD, the group that brought Long Beach Soundwalk and soundpedro, PUMP will be the first in a series of biennial events highlighting culture and creativity.

Striving to serve as a conduit, not only of local but also of regional and international expressions of imagination and artistic practice, our hope is to engender a sense of overlap and tension that will foster, within Long Beach's dynamic art scene, an ecology rich in influence and exchange.
