Description
On Saturday, June 9, The Historic New Orleans Collection will present the latest in an ongoing series of symposia that explore the history of local foodways. “Pulp Facts: Celebrating Citrus,” features presentations on citrus—from the history of citrus to vintage citrus recipes and citrus cocktails—offering an entertaining, illuminating, and a-peel-ing look at this diverse family of fruit. Speakers include celebrity British chef Jeremy Lee, Pierre Laszlo, Justin Nystrom, Rick Ellis, and more.
The event will be moderated by culinary historian Jessica Harris, and speakers include Jeremy Lee, chef proprietor of Quo Vadis, London; Pierre Laszlo, author of Citrus: A History (University of Chicago Press 2007); Justin Nystrom, director, Center for the Study of New Orleans at Loyola University, New Orleans; Rick Ellis, food stylist, historian and writer; and more. A full schedule of talks is available online.
In addition, attendees are invited to an optional citrus-themed dinner at the Napoleon House, where guest chefs Jeremy Lee and Jeremiah Tower will join executive chef Chris Montero to create innovative dishes.
