Event description

Description

«One shared house: Co-living in the year 2030» is a public lecture organised by Harbour.Space University in collaboration with OneCoWork.

This talk will be conducted by Irene Pereyra, a hugely successful and vastly innovative ux designer.

Communal living styles have ebbed and flowed throughout the millenniums, from Neolithic times to a project started a little over 30 years ago by 8 special women in Amsterdam.

Last year, the Brooklyn-based design studio Anton & Irene worked on One Shared House — an interactive documentary about Irene’s communal childhood home in 1980s Amsterdam. Now, as a follow-up project, they are trying to imagine what co-living might look like in 2030. Irene will discuss their findings, their approach, as well as the challenges and hurdles they have faced while trying to bring this new project to life.

This lecture will dive into:

  • The evolution of communal living

  • A look back on the One Shared House project

  • The leap from today to tomorrow’s commune lifestyle

About Irene Pereyra and Anton & Irene Design Studio:

Irene is extremely passionate about design and believe that great design is practical and human- centered at its core, and starts with breaking things down to its simplest form, the straightest line from A to B. Design can always be better, and rocking the boat is always the right thing to do.

Back in 2008, Irene has founded the User Experience and Strategy department at Fantasy Interactive in New York, which recently she left in order to start up her own design studio.

Anton & Irene’s portfolio includes projects for Karim Rashid, Shantell Martin, Zumtobel, Nickelodeon, BBC, Balenciaga, Wacom, National Geographic, and USA Today. Each year they also devote three months to self-initiated projects such as the interactive documentary on co-living, an analogue wristwatch, and a walking tour of New York City. Besides that, almost every month Anton and Irene deliver workshops and lectures in various corners of the world. They have won more than a dozen of prestigious awards including a Webby, an Emmy, a Red Dot award, and a Cannes Lions award. And, yes, their studio does indeed deserve a specifically dedicated board on Pinterest.
