Event description

Description

During this 3 week professional development workshop in Carbondale, Colorado expand your knowledge of public lands in America and how you might teach students about federal public lands.

Workshop meets on Tuesdays from 5:00pm-7:30pm, February 25-March 10, 2020 at the Third Street Center in Carbondale, Colorado.

Optional 1 graduate-level relicensure credit available for $50 from Colorado School of Mines

Through interactive discussion based learning gain a stronger understanding of federal land designations, history of these lands, and the context in which these places were protected. The course aims to build connections between people and America’s public lands as well as awareness that the lands and waters we love today were once and still are Indigenous lands. We will explore the many uses and benefits of public lands, as well as the threats they face locally and nationally. Optional Colorado School of Mines graduate credit will be available.
