Event Details

In honor of our 10th anniversary, we're doing something a little different for the IP3 Awards this year. We've spent 10 years grilling big telecom and media companies. Now it's our turn to sit in the hot seat.

This year's festivities will include dinner, open bar, live music, and a roast of PK and its staff.

Please join us this year as we honor Senator Ron Wyden (D, OR), Beth Noveck, and Peter Jaszi for their work to advance the public interest in one of the "three IP's": Intellectual Property, Information Policy, and Internet Protocol.

  • Ron Wyden, a U.S. Senator from Oregon, is the winnter of the Internet Protocol award. There are few in Congress who match his record of promoting and protecting a free and open online environment.
  • Beth Noveck, a professor at New York Law School, is the winner of the Information Policy award. From 2009 to 2011, she served as the Deputy Cheif Technology Officer to the U.S. government, in charge of implementing the Open Government Initiative.
  • Peter Jaszi, a professor at American University's Washington College of Law, is the winner of the Intellectual Property award. Jaszi has for many years provided a public interest vision for policy on intellectual property, working with a variety of communities like libraries, filmmakers, and poets, to expand their ability to employ fair use.

The judges for this year's competition were:

Craig Aaron, president and CEO of Free Press;
Patricia Aufderheide, professor at the American University School of Communications;
Tyrone Brown, former Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission;
Jessica Gonzales, vice president of policy and legal affairs for the National Hispanic Media Coalition; and
Christopher Sprigman, associate professor at the University of Virginia School of Law.
