Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) in Research Conference – embedding PPI
Those who attended our inaugural PPI conference, held in Galway in April 2016, came away inspired and in many cases, moved, by the powerful contribution made by lay people across a range of research areas, and the impact involvement had on both the researchers and the lay partners.
Time now for the 2017 PPI in Research Conference, which will be of interest to researchers, members of the public, and members of patient and community organisations. The conference will focus on how to embed public and patient involvement into planning and conducting health research, into research organisations and into the public domain.
We welcome in particular members of the public and members of patient and community organisations to the conference, to hear how the voice of the public can contribute to, influence and guide health care research and to find out how to get involved.
One of our speakers at this conference will be Katie Scott from Cancer Research UK, an organisation that has involved patients and the public in many different and creative ways in its research. We will also hear from members of the public, from other researchers and from representatives of patient organisations, who have been involved in different PPI initiatives.

Public and patient involvement in research aims to create an active partnership between the public and researchers, allowing the voice and perspective of the public to help shape and guide research.
NB Eventbrite registration closes at 2pm Wednesday 26 April.
