Event description

Description

Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) in Healthcare Research Conference – Every Voice Matters

The third PPI in Healthcare Research conference, organised by the HRB Primary Care CTNI, will take place on Wednesday 25 April 2018, in the Institute for Lifecourse and Society (ILAS), NUI Galway.

This year’s theme is Every Voice Matters.

Registration is now open for the conference, which promises to be as thought-provoking and diverse as in the previous two years.

Confirmed speakers include Dr Austin O’Carroll, a GP working in Dublin’s inner city, who will discuss his experience working with the marginalised over many decades. Professor Agnes Higgins of TCD will give an overview of service user involvement in mental health research and Dr Veronica Ranieri will talk about her experiences as a service user researcher. Another voice will be Wendy Costello sharing her journey as a parent of a child with a rare disease, from setting up a national family support network to her current involvement in research.

The conference is open to members of the public (free of charge), researchers and healthcare professionals with an interest in working in partnership with patients and the public to build reliable evidence to answer important healthcare research questions.

NB Eventbrite registration closes at 12pm Tuesday 24 April.
