The Department of Psychology at Maynooth University opens its Psychology@25 Festival of Events with a talk by MU Alumnus Dr. Brian Pennie.
The Department of Psychology was established in September 1999. In the intervening 25-years the Department has expanded steadily into a vibrant and internationally-recognized center of high-quality teaching and research. Since 2022 the Department has ranked within the top 200 Departments or Schools of Psychology worldwide (Times Higher Education Ranking). As we begin to mark and celebrate quarter of a century of Psychology at Maynooth University we reflect on key milestones in the development of the Department.
This year we will commence our celebrations with a talk by motivational speaker and MU Alumnus Dr. Brian Pennie. Dr. Pennie is a former heroin addict who following his graduation with a Degree in Psychology from Maynooth University, studied towards a PhD in neuroscience. He is now on a mission to show people that change is possible. Since embracing his second chance at life in 2013, he has become a consultant to some of the world's largest organisations, a lecturer at Trinity College Dublin, an author, a TV presenter, and the founder of his company Change is Possible. www.brianpennie.com
Dr. Pennie’s talk will be at 6.30 PM in TSI 3, on October 8th, which happens to be the 12th anniversary of his being clean from heroin.
This event will be open to the public and will be followed by a question and answer session.
