Event description

Description

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Black Unemployment as of April 2018 stands at 8%. This is about double the rate of the "National Average" of 4%. The disparity between Black and White Unemployment is very alarming. People of Color in San Diego are constantly complaining about the racism and micro-aggressions that we all deal with on a consistent basis at your job, yet have not done anything to combat racism on the job.

One solution to combat racism from employers is to explore Entrepreneurship or a side hustle. Even though San Diego has one of the best ecosystems for entrepreneurs, there is NOT an entrepreneurial infrastructure for People of Color in San Diego. In order to build that infrastructure on a solid foundation, we must understand the history of people of color in America and how that plays a role in the"Psychology of the Black Entrepreneur"

In this Workshop, We will discuss.........

  • Entrepreneurship Lessons from Slavery
  • What integration REALLY did to the Black Community
  • How Media's Perception of Black America plays a role in how others see us and how we see ourselves
  • How Corporate America keeps People of Color that they hire, away from their communities
  • Create an Entrepreneurship/Individual Strategic Plan for yourself and/or your family
  • Open Discussion on WHY there is NOT an entrepreneurial infrastructure for people of color here in San Diego
  • Solutions and Actions to take to create an entrepreneurial infrastructure so that we can build something similar to a Black Wall Street in San Diego

NETWORKING: After the Workshop, you will get a chance to meet people and connect with leaders of minority-based organizations and black entrepreneurs. There will be local entrepreneurs and coaches available to connect with as well.

FOOD AND REFRESHMENTS WILL BE SERVED
