Event description

The LA Promise Fund believes #ArtsMatter and is excited to help LA County teachers enhance student learning through engagement with the Getty's Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA initiative, a collaboration of arts organizations across Southern California.

The broad range of Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA exhibitions presents an opportunity to connect many students with their heritage and identity, and to strengthen the relationship between schools and museums. For these reasons, Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA Teacher Resource Guides were created to help teachers connect the themes of PST: LA/LA exhibitions to class curricula. The guides are part of an overall PST: LA/LA education program that includes: professional development for teachers, free student field trips, free family field trips, and a student art challenge.

Join us as we explore these Teacher Resource Guides and share strategies to make the most of the PST: LA/LA education program offerings.

  • Research-based instructional strategies for teachers of all content areas.
  • Techniques for utilizing technology to support teaching in the arts.
  • Analysis of a diverse portfolio of artwork from Latin American and Latino artists.
  • Free copies of five standards-aligned Teacher Resource Guides that highlight the artwork found in PST: LA/LA exhibitions.
  • Tools and templates to develop your own lesson plans inspired by the artists and artwork featured in PST: LA/LA.

Sign up for ONE session (the content is the same for each session) taking place at arts institutions across LA County. Each session is free and will be held from 9:00am-12:00pm.

  • Saturday, October 21st @ LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes
  • Saturday, October 28th @ Institute of Contemporary Art Los Angeles (ICA LA)
