PSNY Virtual Workshop: Paying Attention
Part of The Poetry Society of New York's Weekly Virtual Workshop Series.
An all-levels generative virtual workshop with poet Ayaz O. Muratoglu!
This workshop is for anyone who has ever struggled with allowing their gaze to linger, their ear to stay open, their mind to remain on one topic for longer than a few moments. We’ll turn to Etel Adnan, Renee Gladman, and Mei-Mei Berssenbrugge, poets and writers whose work offers different ways into and out of the act of sustained or endured attention, to help us find out, hopefully, what concentration makes possible. No previous writing or poetry experience necessary, just a curiosity about what might happen when you let yourself focus on an image, idea, sound, shape, or weather pattern for an extended period of time.
About the Instructor: Ayaz O Muratoglu is a poet, essayist, and translator living in Istanbul, Türkiye. They have taught generative poetry workshops at Jewish Currents, Brown University, and Unnameable Books; work has appeared in The Poetry Project Newsletter, Trilobite, Hot Pink Mag, The Yalobusha Review, and elsewhere. They were born on a Tuesday in April.
**This workshop will take place on Zoom.**
