Workshop Objectives:

  • Increase awareness of the impact of unconscious bias in the workplace
  • Cultivate an understanding of why cultural competence is important
  • Understand how one can use one’s privilege to promote inclusion
  • Develop skills for interrupting bias effectively in the workplace

Workshop Description:

We all have unconscious biases. We come by them naturally. They are a result of how our brains work and our experiences in life. The goals of this workshop are to increase our awareness of the impact of unconscious bias in the workplace, cultivate an understanding of why cultural competence is important, understand how each of us can use our “privilege” to promote inclusion and develop skills for interrupting bias effectively in the workplace. The workshop will be highly interactive. We will endeavor to make the unconscious more conscious through small group discussions, case studies and experiential exercises.
