Description

This Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training, sponsored by the California Avocado Commission, will take place on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 8am to 5pm at the Museum of Ventura County in Ventura, CA.

Note: A major portion of the costs for this training is being underwritten by the California Avocado Commission and California avocado packers. As such, this training is exclusive to California avocado producers, California avocado grove managers, and California avocado packing representatives.

The PSA Grower Training curriculum will cover the following topics over seven modules:

  • Introduction to Produce Safety
  • Worker Health, Hygiene, and Training
  • Soil Amendments
  • Wildlife, Domesticated Animals, and Land Use
  • Agricultural Water
  • Postharvest Handling and Sanitation
  • How to Develop a Farm Food Safety Plan

You must be present for all modules to receive your certificate of completion.

Completing this course is one way to satisfy the FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirement outlined in § 112.22(c) that requires 'At least one supervisor or responsible party for your farm must have successfully completed food safety training at least equivalent to that received under standardized curriculum recognized as adequate by the Food and Drug Administration.'
