UPDATE:

Due to a very large response, we are excited to host our Pruning Mature and Young Apple Tree workshop through a digital tutorial! This will be an ideal format given weather, wind and that we only have two trees to prune. Everyone will be able to learn recommendations and see proper pruning cuts demonstrated.

The tutorial will be released by April 4 so keep an eye out for it on Instagram TV, our Facebook page, Horsford’s website, and on YouTube. Grab a pen and paper to take notes, and reach out to ask us any of your pruning questions!

This format will be available after April 4 so you can refer back to it for guidance as much as you need to. If you aren’t on any of the channels mentioned, just email us at info@horsfordnursery.com and we’ll be sure you can access it.

Many thanks,
The Horsford Team

Do you have abandoned or neglected apple trees in your landscape? Or have you planted new trees recently? Learn how to sustain a successful home orchard with proper apple tree pruning.

Local pruning volunteer Ron Orvis and Horsford’s Field Manager Ralph Fitz-Gerald are leading an apple tree pruning workshop free to community members at the nursery. Stop by to review proper pruning timing, sound cuts, and useful tools. Attendees will learn how to achieve reliable tree structure and prolific fruiting for seasons to come.

Ron Orvis of Starksboro, Vermont is a life-long sportsman who started volunteering pruning abandoned apple trees for the U.S. Forest Service in 1982. He now volunteers for Vermont Fish and Wildlife, and the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation.

Ralph Fitz-Gerald has managed Horsford’s growing fields since the 1980s. He has planted and pruned thousands of trees during his horticultural career, and enjoys sharing his experience with the community.

Please sign up to let us know you’re attending. Free tickets are available.
