Event description
Childhood sexual abuse: perpetrator grooming behaviors, abuse dynamics, and prevention and support strategies.

About this Event

With National Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Assault Awareness month upon us, it is important to raise awareness about sexual violence, to teach effective strategies that can help to protect our communities, and to provide support to families and their children when abuse does occur. In order to help our communities, helping professionals must be educated on what sexual abuse is, the dynamics around the abuse, and be able to help families set up strategies to improve protection against abuse.

Join Melissa O'Connor, LMHC in this three-hour Zoom training to explore the dynamics of sexual abuse against children.

Objectives:

Participants will learn about the definitions of child sexual abuse, incest and other forms of sexual abuse.

Participants will gain an understanding of offender behaviors and the grooming process.

Participants will understand issues related to disclosure and clinician responsibility.

Participants will learn about the red flags of childhood sexual abuse.

3 CEs available to NYS LMHCs, LMFTs, LCSWs, LMSWs, and NYS Licensed Psychologists provided by Hudson Valley Professional Development, LLC upon successful completion of training.
