Protect Abortion Access
Event Information
About this Event
This month will mark the 48th anniversary of the passing of Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision made by the U.S. Supreme court which ruled that the United States Constitution protects a pregnant person’s right to choose and have an abortion without excessive government restrictions. While this right is technically the law of the land, many individuals still face incredible challenges to accessing abortion care. Join Desert Star Institute for Family Planning for a virtual event to learn more about these challenges from pro- reproductive justice Arizona politicians and experts.
Please join us for this FREE virtual event where we will share a short film showing the first hand experience of walking through anti-choice protestors while trying to seek abortion care. Our Founder & President/CEO, Dr. DeShawn Taylor, will share her experiences working with patients experiencing barriers to abortion care followed by a discussion with Arizona Senator Juan Mendez and Representative Athena Salman.
Event Speakers:
Alejandra Pablos - Criminal Justice, Immigration, and Reproductive Justice Activist, Community Organizer, and Abortion Story Teller
Dr. DeShawn Taylor, MD - Gynecology and Family Planning Specialist, Reproductive Justice Advocate, Abortion Provider.
Representative Athena Salman - (D) AZ House of Representatives, District 26, Minority Whip
