1. Discuss the role caregivers and family members play in improving patient care and health outcomes and detail ways to include them in shared decision making.

2. Describe the complex interactions between social determinants of health (socioeconomic status, education, the physical environment, employment, and social support networks, as well as access to health care) and their influences on the health of individuals and populations.

3. Summarize the latest prostate cancer treatment options and communicate the risks and benefits of each treatment in a way both patients and their caregivers and families can easily understand.

4. Identify and explain the potential mental, physical and spiritual impacts, of managing a prostate cancer diagnosis on men, caregivers and their families.

5. Recognize preferences, values and expressed needs, especially within the African-American community and throughout varied races and cultures.
