Today, we must rethink how we build, what we build and why, how we manage the resources and costs, how we can quickly rebuild in a crisis, and how it all affects the planet. Buildings are among the biggest environmental polluters and energy consumers. At the EU level, buildings account for 43% of final energy consumption, 55% of wood consumption, and 25% of water consumption. CO2 emission reaches more than 40% too. They are very big numbers that look even more frightening in today’s economic situation and climate change context. Are we ready to build more sustainable and greener buildings? What innovative solutions could emerge to make a positive impact not only on the planet but also on the people?
