Event description

Description

Challenging economic times—and changing federal tax codes—demand tighter control of real and personal property taxes.

We'll help you stay ahead of the Nov. 1 personal property declaration deadline, avoid common mistakes that lead to overpayments, and get your company’s real property assessed equitably.

Our panelists explain property law changes made by Connecticut’s General Assembly this year including::

  • A bill that allows municipalities to provide a property tax credit to eligible taxpayers who make voluntary payments to municipally-approved "community supporting organizations." The municipality determines the credit amount, which only applies to residential property.

  • Additional changes in the taxation of motor vehicles.

We’ll help you:

  • File properly and avoid common, costly errors

  • Maximize the exemptions you are entitled to under Connecticut statutes

  • Effectively challenge and successfully appeal adverse determinations

  • Properly respond to personal property audits

  • Ensure that your company is not overpaying property taxes

Among our experts are Michael Fedele, Senior Manager at CohnReznick, City of Hartford Assessor John Philip and Chief Assessment Technician Gail Gantick, and Gregory Servodidio of Pullman & Comley.

This event is tailored to finance and accounting professionals, partners and managing partners, sole practitioners, shareholders, business owners, and staff serving the tax needs of their business or business clients.

Our event begins at 8 am with check-in and a networking breakfast.

The program runs from 8:30-11:30 am.
