Property Management Training: Building Capacity in Supportive Housing

Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) will offer training for property managers of permanent supportive housing (PSH). This 19-hour course taught over five sessions (see schedule below) is designed to familiarize property managers with the PSH model and various tools used to increase housing retention for formerly homeless tenants with special needs. Property managers are exposed to both best practices and practical steps of finding solutions for the most common challenges in creating a supportive housing environment. Topics include dimensions of quality PSH, coordination, and communication with support services, community outreach, and engagement strategies, the Coordinated Entry System (CES), fair housing, as well as lease administration and trauma-informed housing and retention.


Session Participation

In order receive a Certificate of Completion, trainee must attend all five sessions.



Learning Objectives

In this course, property management will develop the following:

  • Identify and describe dimensions of quality supportive housing;
  • Differentiate the roles of property management and support services;
  • Problem identification and solving skills for working in housing with special needs populations;
  • An ability to understand CES processes, challenges, and reporting responsibilities;
  • Critically outreach and engage with community stakeholders.

Session 3: Trauma-Informed Housing and Retention
Wednesday, October 9th from 9 AM – 2 PM

Session 4: Coordinated Entry System (CES), Tenant Rights & Lease Administration
Tuesday, October 15th from 9 AM – 12:30 PM

Session 5: Tenant and Community Engagement Strategies
Thursday, October 17th from 9 AM – 12:30 PM
