Event Details

In marking the completion of Rural-RES, an Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE) project focusing on the promotion of mini-RES installations in mountainous areas, we would like to cordially invite you to the conference on Promoting mini-wind and mini-hydro installations in rural and mountainous areas which will be held at the Committee of Regions (Brussels, Belgium) on the 28th of March 2011.

Rural-RES results have been produced by a consortium of seven partners in different regions of the EU including Diputación Provincial de Huelva (Huelva, Spain), ECWT - Energy Center of West Thessaly (Trikala, Greece), SESO - Severoceske sdruzeni obci (Usti nad Labem, Czech Republic), SVA - Associatia ‘Valea Soarelui’ (Mures, Romania), AG.EN.A - Societa Consortile a Responsabilita Limitata (Teramo, Italy), ESS - Energikontor Sydost AB (Vaxjo, Sweden) and ESHA - European Small Hydropower Association (Brussels, Belgium).

Although mountainous areas have great potential in generating renewable energy and in development of small-scale energy facilities, there are difficulties in their supply due to various social and economic barriers. The aim of the Rural-RES was to overcome the non-technological barriers to the integration of mini-hydro and mini-wind energy sources into the local environment, thereby contributing to energy independence and supporting as a result the generation of new jobs in these communities. The final Rural-RES conference will raise these issues and discuss the potentials for developing mini-RES in such areas by presenting best practice examples as conducted in the partner’s different regions.

For more information on the project and to have a look at project results please visit the Rural-RES website.

Please find the event agenda here.

We look forward to welcoming you at the Rural-RES final conference!

With best regards,

the ESHA Secretariat.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information.

Entrance to the conference is free of charge. Lunch will be provided for participants.
