With so many children being impacted by sudden or traumatic death, social service professionals need to be prepared to address both the natural grief responses and the trauma reactions.
In this workshop, participants will gain an understanding of Childhood Traumatic Grief including the physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioral responses of grieving children and teens who have experienced a death due to homicide, suicide, accident, natural disasters or sudden, unexpected deaths. Gain theoretical knowledge of Childhood Traumatic Grief including the differences between natural grief responses and PTSD
- Learn age-appropriate language to use when talking with children about death, including homicide and suicide
- Acquire practical intervention strategies to utilize with children and teens in agency, school and private practice settings
Promoting Healing meets the qualifications for 6 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Science. Provider #PCE 1465. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 15119 for 6 contact hours.
