Description of training: Promoting First Relationships (PFR) training is one component of the Washington Part C State Systemic Improvement Plan (SSIP). The goal of the SSIP is to improve social-emotional outcomes for the children and families we serve. PFR was selected by ESIT after reviewing a number of evidence-based practices as they relate to the Division of Early Childhood (DEC) recommended practices. We think PFR is a great fit with Part C early intervention and we are very excited to be able to provide this training opportunity. All early intervention providers in SSIP implementation sites participated in level-one knowledge building training through a two-day learner’s workshop with their original cohort. This training is designed to give providers knowledge about using PFR within one’s own practice.

In this 2-day learner's workshop, participants learn a unique consultation and intervention strategy that they can integrate into their work whether in high-risk, special needs, child-care, or other early childhood fields. The strategy can be used one-on-one with parents and also with child care providers and early childhood teachers responsible for group care.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Lori Holbrook, at lori.holbrook@dcyf.wa.gov

Agenda and meeting details will be sent to attendees prior to the training.
