Journey across continents and languages in a wide-ranging and powerful exploration of migration. A complement to Washington Performing Arts’ Dreamers special production and 2018/19 Latinx in D.C. programming, this afternoon of song and spoken word contemplates notions of home, yearning, displacement, and hope. Curated by soprano Elizabeth Racheva, the program will also feature mezzo-soprano Anamer Castrello, baritone Jose Sacín, pianist Lester Green, double bassist Bruce Rosenblum, and students from All Souls Unitarian Church and GALA Hispanic Theatre's Paso Nuevo Youth Program, with stage consulting by Helen Aberger. Works by Alvarez, Bernstein, Friedman, Guastavino, Laitman, Lecuona, Sierra, Wolf, and more.
Co-presented with All Souls Church, Unitarian.
This performance is part of Washington Performing Arts’ global programming initiative, The World in Our City: Latinx in D.C., which provides perspective on what it means to be a citizen of the world through a unique arts-based lens.
