WHAT IS WILD WILD WESTIE?

Wild Wild Westie is a WCS dance convention that started in 2012 offering leveled workshops, leveled competitions, routines and more. The event takes place at the Hyatt Regency Dallas from July 3-6, 2025.

WHAT IS PROJECT SWING?

Project Swing is a FREE workshop offered by Wild Wild Westie for those who have never taken a WCS lesson before (or it's been a while)! By the end of our class, you will be able to dance your way through an entire song, and have the foundation to jump into your local beginner classes to continue learning and become a part of our community!

Your participation includes 2 hours of instruction from highly accomplished teachers tailored to first timers.

NO PARTNER IS REQUIRED as we will have participants rotate in class, so you can come alone, or bring your family, friends, neighbors and coworkers. Let us teach y’all what West Coast Swing is all about!

W HAT IS WEST COAST SWING?

WCS is a modern lead/follow swing dance that is defined by its slotted and linear movement, and elastic connection with your partner. It is typically danced to contemporary and classic Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Funk, and Blues.

While it’s a dance that you do with a partner, you don't need to bring your own partner as dancers typically rotate and switch partners during class and social dancing.

The dance is degendered, which means that we have no traditional role requirements. Your decision to lead or follow is not dictated by your gender, but by your desire. You are free to learn to dance as a leader or follower (and many learn to switch roles).
