Event description

Description

Join the Library Associates for the Annual Casey-McIlvane Memorial Lecture on Monday, September 11 from 6-8 pm in the Pierce Reading Room, Lauinger Library.

This year's program will highlight Project Rebirth, an organization dedicated to supporting the survivors of catastrophic events including the September 11, 2001 World Trade Center attacks. Project Rebirth’s films facilitate powerful lessons on how human beings can build resilience personally, professionally and in their communities and organizations. These films are now part of the DigitalGeorgetown repository and are available to the entire Georgetoen University community.

This event will include a screening of selected clips from Project Rebirth as well as remarks from Brian Rafferty, (CAS’79), Georgetown Board of Regents, Chairman, Project Rebirth, Randy Bass, Vice-Provost for Education, Professor of English, Georgetown University and General George Casey (USA, Retired) (F’70), Georgetown Board of Directors.

The Casey-McIlvane Endowed Library Lecture Fund was established in memory of Francis L. Casey, Jr., C’50, L’53, and in honor of the Reverend Donald W. McIlvane, F’46 through the generous joint gift of Nancy McIlvane Del Genio, F’82 and the late Roseanne McIlvane Casey, S’79. In previous years the lecture has featured many esteemed speakers including Professor Bárbara Mujica, Professor Carolyn L. Forché, and Professor Duncan Wu.
