TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM - ON LINE

TCB is offering two sections of the PROJECT READ Program - Sentence Structure and Report Form Process. The steps for signing up and ordering materials are near the bottom of this page.

What is PROJECT READ?

Language Circle Enterprises presents the Project Read curriculum, a complete research-based language arts program which includes instructional materials for phonics, reading comprehension, and writing. This time-tested curriculum was developed in 1973 by Dr. Mary Lee Enfield and Victoria Greene. The curriculum honors diverse learning profiles and provides lessons built on direct concept teaching, targeted multisensory strategies, and higher-level thinking skills. Project Read curriculum has been proven by performance for over 45 years. This curriculum is implemented with K-12 classrooms, ESL students, Special Education, Title One programs, and adolescents or adults with reading and writing problems.

Language Circle Enterprises' focus is to support not only students, but educators. The Project Read curriculum empowers teachers by arming them with instructional strategies and targeted multisensory techniques that address diverse learning needs. One of the advantages of this online program is that the office staff will be available to answer any of your questions at any time.  If it's not during their office hours, just leave a message and they'll get back to you. Phone 800-450-0343.

TCB is now offering two sections of the Project Read series: one from Written Expression and one from Reading Comprehension.  You may purchase and take both sections or either one.

Each session's instructional strategies include:

  1. Giving students the "why" before teaching the skills so they have an understanding and personal investment in learning
  2. Graphic symbols and body language that put the focus on learning rather than memorizing
  3. Stimulating multiple areas of the mind with visual, auditory, and tactile exercises to seed ideas

Section 1 - The Written Expression Curriculum teaches the fundamentals of sentence writing. This curriculum uses 8 unique graphic symbols to illustrate the sentence parts and their function. The instructional strategies blend creative freedom and accuracy with direct multisensory skill instruction. We're offering the following component.

Framing  Your Thoughts -  Sentence StructureThis program focuses on the art of sentence development using multisensory activities and sequential instruction to develop the basic skills of writing.  Instruction centers on 8 graphic symbols that explain sentence structure in a concrete, practical matter. The skills evolve sequentially from simple to complex sentence building. It is effective for all levels. Instructor: Andy Stetkevich, Language Circle Endorsed Consultant

Section 2 -The Reading Comprehension is divided into Report Form (expository-level 3 through adult), Story Form (narrative-level 6 through adult and Story Form Literature Connection (narrative-level 1 through 5) written information.  The teaching approach is direct concept instruction using multisensory strategies and materials.  It teaches a process of analyzing the underlying structure of expository and narrative writing and is presented in a sequential, dependent order of concepts and skills.  This process transfers to other curriculum areas to give the student a level of language independence.  The curriculum was designed primarily for grades 1 through adult learners.

Report Form Process - Expository Text Comprehension is designed to assist primary through adult-aged learners in “breaking open” text using multisensory strategies to explore informational text. This enables the students to take apart and better understand the text.   Activities are specifically structured to teach students a process to collect, organize, and synthesize information when reading expository content. Students apply their knowledge to study skills, test-taking strategies, and content area reading. Instructor:  Dr. Linda Antonowich, Endorsed Language Circle Consultant.
