On December 7th at 2333 Harrison St., Oakland, Project Re-Connect, Inc. (PRC) will unveil its new program, self·o·lo·gy™. This program falls under PRC's Color Connect programming which is expanding into the areas of STEM, Entrepreneurship, Art, Advocacy and other areas serving boys and girls throughout Alameda County, specifically Oakland, Grades 6 - 12.
The self·o·lo·gy™ movement is designed to assist young women of color in their journey of re-centering self in order to reclaim their voices & redefine personal identity. In a society where women of color are often devalued & disempowered, this movement seeks to shift racist & sexist power structures that exist against us as forces of oppression.
We are also taking this opportunity on Dec. 7th to present a Lifetime Achievement Award in Education to Dr. William Love, Chairman and Founder of the Substance Abuse Counseling Program at Merritt College as well as a Warrior of Change in the treatment of drug addiction by the penal system.
