Description

CELEBRATE the 23rd Anniversary of Project Linus

Featuring the band ZZAuth & The Love Tokens

$15 Online / $20 At the Door

Project Linus was founded near Denver in December 1995. What started as a grassroots effort to provide handcrafted security blankets to seriously ill and traumatized children in the Mile High City has grown to almost 400 chapters around the U.S. Over 6.5 million children have been comforted by Project Linus blankets around the globe.

Project Linus blankets are crafted by an all volunteer army ranging from individuals to school children to scout troups to church groups and seniors. Corporations, non profits and associations participate as an way to give back to the community and team build. A Project Linus blanket maker is officially called a "Blanketeer. "

The blankets are distributed to children ranging from neonatal to young adult who are receiving care from hospitals, hospice, police & fire departments, social services, Indian reservations, specialty camps and the military. The Denver chapter assists other chapters around the country and groups around the world. There is no charge for a Project Linus blanket and the children get to give their blanket a forever home. The Denver chapter typically donates 3,000-5,000 blankets per year.

Each individual chapter is responsible for fundraising. Donations assist with paying expenses including but not limited to shipping and postage, blanket tags (sewn onto each blanket that has passed inspection and is ready for donation), event blanket making materials, promotional materials, Internet, telephone, office expenses, legal, banking and accounting costs, state registration fees and renewals, miscellaneous local chapter registration fees, liability insurance, newsletters, rent and utilities.

The Founder and Denver Coordinator of Project Linus is Karen Loucks Rinedollar. She, like all Project Linus Chapter Coordinators, is a volunteer. Professionally, Karen is the author of Working for Peanuts: The Project Linus Story, she motivates audiences nationally with her presentation The L.I.N.U.S. Effect: Five Steps to a Purpose-Full Life and is the Executive Director of Denver Speakers Bureau.
