Description

Project Innovate: Robotics, Design, and Innovation Camp (Ages 9-14), 9am-3pm, July 16-20, 2018

In this week-long camp, your child will develop skills in coding, design, robotics, and innovation. Activities include building and designing Mindstorms EV3 robots (including working with touch, ultrasonic, color, gyro sensors) to score points on a playfield, coding the Sphero SPRK+ (including using the gyro sensor and accelerometer), and developing an invention to address problems in how humans collect, clean, store, or dispose of water.

Students will use processes for innovation such as design thinking and biomimicry (looking to nature for inspiration) to facilitate the development of innovative solutions.

Throughout the week we will visit several engineering and biology labs to deepen students understanding of how engineering and biology can be used to solve problems facing humanity.

At the end of the week, students will compete in friendly competitive rounds just as in a real FLL competition.

This camp does not require prior knowledge LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robotics set or Sphero SPRK+. If your child has prior experience with Mindstorms EV3, we will work hard to bring them to the next level. This course is taught by an experienced teacher with STEM experience, a FIRST LEGO League coach (7 years experience) and experienced FLL youth mentors (2 years as mentors, 5 years as FLL participants).
