Event description

Description

During the school break on Columbus Day, Project H.E.R.O.I.S.M. participants in 2nd grade or older will enjoy a touching movie - Searching for Bobby Fischer - and have a discussion about teamwork, approaches to winning, and the sacrifices involved in doing anything well. Children will then take part in station activities designed to decorate the Monroe Gardens Community Room (making placemats, fall flowers, etc.) and prepare lunch (sandwich making, cookie baking, etc.) for the residents. From 1-3 pm, the families living in Andrew Jackson Gardens, Harrison Gardens and Christopher Columbus Garden, as well as seniors living in Fox Hill Gardens and Adams and Monroe Gardens are invited to join the children for an afternoon of Grub & Games, where they will enjoy the fruits of their labor and play board games. While you are at work or otherwise enjoying the day, let your 7+ year old spend the day off from school learning with their peers and serving others in the community. Space is limited!
