Event description
Join Delaware Humanities for our first Summer Prohibited Book Club meeting of Jodi Picoult's challenged 2007 book "Nineteen Minutes".

About this event

“In nineteen minutes, you can stop the world; or you can just jump off it.”

Sterling, New Hampshire is a small, unremarkable town until one day a school shooting leaves 10 people dead and 19 wounded. After that violent day, the town’s residents must learn to deal with loss in all its forms and figuring out how to heal as the trial of the shooter places their town into the national spotlight. Jodi Picoult’s 2007 challenged novel Nineteen Minutes reflects on the struggles surrounding loss, healing, forgiveness, anger, and guilt.

Prohibited Book Club

As part of Delaware Humanities’ “Prohibited” initiative, the books for the 2021 Summer Book Club will be previously banned or frequently challenged books.  This summer we will look at three pieces of modern literature.

Everyone who attends all three Summer Book Club sessions will be entered into a raffle to win a Banned Books pouch from Out of Print!

There will be five free copies of the book for those who register for one, while supplies last.  Please note if you claim a free book and do not attend the discussion session, you will not be allowed to claim a free book in the future.  Books will only be mailed to Delaware addresses.
