Schmoozeday in Sonoma Valley

Hold a monthly meeting of Kenwood and Glen Ellen winery and tasting room owners, winemakers, managers and tasting room personnel to get to know each other better and create a sense of community so we can all promote the heart of Sonoma Valley and each other’s businesses as well as our own.

Opportunities from these meetings/presentations are:

For Presenters:

Present your winery’s wines, winemaking techniques and style or philosophy in addition to the experiences your tasting room/winery offer so other tasting room personnel know will know what to tell their customers about you and when to refer customers to you.

For Participants:

Meet and stay in touch with neighboring tasting room & winery personnel

Learn what other wineries offer, what their winemaking style and philosophies are

Expand your knowledge of varietals, wine styles and winemaking techniques

Find areas of common interest or event participation with other tasting rooms

Participate in discussions of topics/issues/challenges common to all of us

The Concept:

Once each month, on a pre-set day (2ed or 3rd  Thursday ), from 5:30 to 7:00pm one winery will host and present your winery’s wines, winemaking techniques and style or philosophy.  This is a seated presentation in a more focues atmosphere  as opposed to an “Industry Night” or a party atmosphere.

The presentation can be made by whoever the winery feels is best; winemaker, tasting room staff, PR, owner or all of the above. This can be a simulation of one of your tasting room experiences or whatever format you choose.

The format is (approximate timing):

15 minutes of gathering, welcome wine, getting seated

30 minutes to an hour of a presentation and tasting of your wines

15 to 30 minutes of questions to the presenter followed by an open forum on topics/issues/challenges common to all of us that anyone cares to bring up.

The presenting winery should offer some light hors d’oeuvres either before, during or after the presentation.

Between the 10th and the 20th of the month prior to a presentation: The presenting winery must send the Schmoozeday Administrator* a brief description of their winery or their presentation (150 words or less). Please include the Winery Name, Address and the maximum number of participant’s you can accommodate.
