Description

The Connections Lab Workshop

The Skill of Framing

Building on the work of linguist and cognitive scientist George Lakoff, the workshop will reveal:

  • Why progressives and conservatives take the positions they do.

  • What we need to stop doing to be successful.

  • How to frame a message so it works!

You’ll never see political communication in the same way!

The bulk of the workshop applies our hands-on “Stop, Drop and Roll” exercises that teach you the skill of framing messages that tell people who we are, what we believe, and why our ideas work better for all Americans.

What you need to know:

1. Coffee and donuts are provided.

2. Our schedule: 8am workshop begins, 11am-11:15 wrap up, evaluations and sharing ideas for moving forward.

3. Tickets: Click the Green Bar above to select a ticket and reserve your place. Eventbrite adds a small fee. Choose the Scholarship option if you need the tuition covered for you. Choose the Donation option if you can contribute toward someone else's ticket. Choose the Discount Ticket if you can contribute something toward your own tuition, just not the full price. If you know someone who does not have internet access and cannot register online, they may attend and pay at the door via check or cash, but not credit card. Tickets help offset our cost for the presenters.

5.Please complete the "Pre-Reading Assignment" by clicking the link below. This allows us to shorten the introduction to the material so we can spend more time in practice.

Your presenters are Julie Ethan and George Greene.

If you're looking for some inspiration in the meantime, watch this 23 minute video of Tavis Smiley interviewing George Lakoff.
