Event Details

We are pleaset to announce that Brian O'Malley will be our speaker at the March LAI Baltimore Luncheon.

Mr. O’Malley has served as President and CEO of the Central Maryland Transportation Alliance since 2014, when he last addressed LAI Baltimore at a luncheon meeting.  CMTA’s three-person organization is answerable to a 25-member board of directors, which is chaired by James L. Shea, who, as you might expect, was the most knowledgeable and committed to public transportation gubernatorial candidate in the last election.  It has produced the 2015 and 2017 Transportation Report Cards benchmarking the Greater Baltimore region against its peers.  Mr. O’Malley has successfully campaigned to enact Maryland transportation laws such as the expansion of the commuter benefits tax credits, a scoring system for transportation projects, and the repeal of the farebox recovery mandate.  He was appointed to Mayor Catherine Pugh’s Transition Team in 2016. CMTA has produced a third-party evaluation of MTA’s BaltimoreLink bus network redesign in 2018.

Mr. O’Malley earned a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, IL, and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish (cum laude) at Duke University in Durham, NC.  Brian is conversational in Spanish.  He is a member of the American Planning Association.

Our long-scheduled speaker for today, Kevin Quinn, notified us of a required meeting before the Maryland Board of Public Works on March 20th.  We are most appreciative of Brian for his presence on such short-notice today.
