Professional Schools - MITHM Program Advisory Council Forum 2025
Overview
The tourism and hospitality industry is continuously evolving due to globalization, technological innovations, sustainability imperatives, and the dynamic expectations of the workforce and consumers. In this context, academic institutions offering graduate programs such as the Master in International Tourism and Hospitality Management (MITHM) must ensure that their curriculum remains responsive, relevant, and globally competitive. The Program Advisory Council (PAC) Forum serves as a strategic platform for collaboration among the academe, industry practitioners, government agencies, alumni, and professional organizations. Through open dialogue and consultation, the forum enables stakeholders to review the existing curriculum, discuss trends and emerging issues, and identify areas for improvement to strengthen the alignment between education and professional practice. The conduct of this activity directly supports the university’s commitment to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It advances SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting inclusive, equitable, and high-quality learning opportunities that enhance academic and professional competencies. It also contributes to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by aligning the program outcomes with the needs of the labor market, ensuring that graduates are equipped with globally relevant skills and knowledge. Most importantly, the PAC Forum embodies SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, as it fosters collaboration and knowledge exchange among diverse stakeholders toward sustainable and inclusive development in tourism and hospitality education. Beyond the SDG framework, the activity also supports the institution’s drive to achieve excellence in the QS Stars Rating System and the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings under criteria such as Teaching Quality, Industry Engagement, Employability, and Partnerships for Sustainable Development. By gathering insights from experts and stakeholders, the forum contributes to the continuous quality improvement of the MITHM program, ensuring that it remains adaptive to global trends, responsive to industry demands, and aligned with the university’s mission of delivering world-class and socially responsible education.
