Description

Professional Ethics in Action: Honesty, Morality and Integrity in a Shifting World

Our professional ethical codes of conduct help us preserve boundaries within our work, as well as our professional values. They give us a sense of competence and safety. They support our clients in feeling safe and respected and give our respective professional fields credibility and professionalism.

In this training workshop, instructed by Karen Carnabucci, LCSW, TEP, action methods help the usual “dry” topic of ethics come alive as we look at how our values guide the everyday aspects of our professional lives.

In the first half of this interactive training workshop, we will explore our relationship with basic ethical principles. There will be opportunities to bring case studies forward. This program includes the three hours of ethics programming needed for social workers and others for recertification or re-licensure.

During the afternoon segment of the workshop, we will explore the larger issues of honesty, morality and integrity in our shifting world, both inside and outside of our respective professional settings, including our political world, our families and other places. Topics will be determined by the members of the training group, according to what you bring.

In this interactive training workshop, you will learn:

  • How to evaluate your “relationship” with your code of ethics.
  • How to strengthen your ability to discuss issues relating to ethics and boundaries, dual and multiple relationships and other important issues.
  • How self care fits with ethical practice.
  • A three-step model for exploring ethical questions.

Presentation methods will include lecture, experiential activities and demonstration, group discussion and handouts. There will be ample time for questions, discussion and case consultation, as well as the option to address personal issues in a confidential atmosphere.

The fee for this training workshop is $85 if registered by Feb. 11, and $105 after. The tuition includes the training day; six CE credits for social workers, marriage and family therapists and licensed professional counselors; psychodrama credit hours toward psychodrama certification; handouts; and healthy snacks. All participants will receive a certificate of attendance to use in their respective organizations.

This training day is suitable for:

Mental health professionals, marriage and family therapists, creative arts therapists, addiction counselors, physicians and other medical professionals, personal and wellness coaches, educators, clergy, community and social activists, alternative health practitioners and others interested in experiential methods.

Participants will have the option to address personal issues in a supportive and confidential setting, as well as bring past or present client cases forward for supervision.

You may register in one of two ways:

  • Send check payable to Karen Carnabucci to 313 W. Liberty St. #251, Lancaster, PA 17603.
