Professional Development Workshop - Elementary General Music

The Wheaton College Conservatory of Music would like to invite you to the Professional Development Workshop for elementary general music teachers, music education majors, and college/university professors. Music teachers can receive up to five professional development hours at this workshop.

Sessions at this workshop include:

Keynote Session: Opening Space for Creative Music Making in Elementary Settings (Donna Gallo, Assistant Professor of Music Education, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign)

Session 1: You Can Do It! Including Students with Disabilities in Music Classrooms (Beth Bauer, faculty at the Community School of the Arts, and the Conservatory of Music, Wheaton College)

Session 2: Music Games and Dances that Teach and Delight (Joyce Anne Wilder, faculty at the Community School of the Arts, Wheaton College)

Session 3: Rhythm and Melody the Orff Way (Erica Barnett, Music teacher at Nicholson Elementary School, and Orff Schulwerk Master Teacher)

Session 4: Authentic Assessment in Music Class: Meeting Students’ Musical Needs (Gina Yi, Assistant Professor of Music Education, Wheaton College)
