Event description

Description

As every teacher knows, test results and exam grades are an important part of any taught course, but if we focus too much on this academic product of our teaching and the students’ learning, we are in danger of losing sight of the developmental processes which go towards achievement in the end. This session looks at some ways that we can incorporate process-based methods into language lessons in order to give students the skills to tackle any language assessment situation. We will look at inductive and deductive approaches to language teaching, the role of critical and evaluative thinking in language development, and how we can exploit student errors for their language development. We will also examine some task types and classroom activities which encourage the development of these processes, making them stronger language users in final language assessments.
