ABOUT THIS CLASS

In this class, Ableton Certified Trainer Adam Fangsrud (Flatliner, Kro) will guide students through all of the necessary steps to get musical ideas out of their heads and into polished finished tracks. Although this is an introductory course, eseasoned producers can benefit from the content, which breaks music production in Ableton Live into bite-sized pieces and helps compartmentalize the different steps of the production process. This analytical yet creative approach ensures that musicians don’t get overwhelmed with options or crippled with writer’s block. By the end of this course, students can expect to understand the unique workflows made possible by Ableton Live, including drum racks, instrument racks, effects routing, warping, moving between Session and Arrangement view, and more. Students can look forward to having one or more tracks completely arranged, mixed, and ready to play loud.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
  • Song analysis and music structuring in Session View
  • Using MIDI controllers with Live
  • Drum programming using Drum Racks and the Groove Pool
  • Designing basses, leads, pads and arpeggios using Live Instruments or VST Instruments, depending on student’s version of Ableton Live
  • Moving from Session View to Arrangement View
  • Mixing using Live Audio Effects
