Event description

Description

  • Day 1 of the workshop will cover the cultural significance of sheep, traditional and sustainable practices of sheep herding, sheep breeds, quality sheep assurance, sheep/lamb industry, high-end sheep/lamb market, and how to create an off-reservation flock.
  • Day 2 of the workshop will provide information on fall sheep maintenance schedule, ram buying, flushing, gestation and administering medications as well as an overview of how to train your sheep dogs. Both days will be facilitated by Candice Mendez to ensure a productive exchange of information and discussion among participants to lay the foundation for a community owned USDA certified animal harvest facility.
