Pro Grad Series: Dealing w Workplace Inequalities - Selfhelp and Allyship
Event Information
About this Event
Inequalities and discriminations exist in Canada and must be addressed. At workplaces, inequalities and discriminatory behaviours may come in various types and forms against minorities in areas including but not limited to ethnicity, place of origin, gender, sexual orientation, disabilities and beyond. For those affected, such inequalities directly hinder the realization of their full potentials at the very least; for those observing such practices, it also feeds into the vicious cycle of reinforcing the perceived 'norm' and further abusive behaviours, creating toxic work environments.
The Professional Caucus has invited a panel of experts in hiring, dispute resolution, and equity and inclusion, all graduating UofT GPLLM candidates, to discuss practical steps on self-help and navigating meaningful allyship for those witnessing inequalities in professional settings and want to make a difference.
This panel DOES NOT have the mandate to 'fix' systemic issues at a specific workplace but it DOES aim to provide useful takeaways for our fellow professionals who are bound to undertake more leadership roles to lead by example and build inclusive workplaces for all.
