Private Resident IDEO/i-lab Workshop 2

This is a closed event for all i-lab resident teams; we highly encourage you to attend. A prep message from IDEO is below.

We have two requests in preparation for our time together:

1. Observations and Conversations

Your value propositions must address real customer needs and behaviors. Please take some time (if you haven't already) to get out in the world to learn more about your customers, either through observations as they use existing offers or through conversations around prototypes that you've made to test your own offer.

If you'd like some guidance around user observation, check out http://www.hcdconnect.org/methods under the "Hear" section. (And, if you're feeling ambitious, you can download the whole toolkit to get a sense of how we practice user-centered design at IDEO and IDEO.org.)

What did you observe and learn? What surprised you or challenged your assumptions? How will you change your experience or business model based on that feedback?

Please bring stories and evidence or your observations, tests, or learning with you on Monday. We'll put them up in the room to kick off our class discussion. (And please feel free to use the attached worksheet as guidance.)

2. Top 3 Assumptions

Once you've completed the above observations and/or tests, think back to our 1st session when you identified the initial underlying assumptions of your venture's offer. Some of you had a lot of them! With your new learnings in hand, what are the top 3 underlying assumptions of your venture now? How have they evolved?

Please bring these prioritized assumptions with you to our 2nd session. We'll use them to design a new set of experiments. That brings us to next Monday...

IDEO Venture Design Workshop II: Experiment Design

Monday March 11th at 6 PM

We'll share our approach to designing experiments and tests, including additional tools, test examples, and assumption types. We'll also do a run-through of experiment design with 1 lucky team, and then facilitate group sessions with you to close the workshop.

Sound like fun? It will be epic.

We check all attendee registrations at the door. Please bring a printed or smartphone copy of your EventBrite registration and Harvard student ID if you have registered as a Harvard Student.  Attendance will be limited to registered guests and tickets will not be available at the door.

Note: Harvard Shuttles have a stop directly across from the i-lab, and you can track the shuttles online here: http://harvard.transloc.com/ If you are driving, please park in the i-lab's lot (entrance on Western Avenue, directions and payment information are here: http://i-lab.harvard.edu/parking).
