About this Event

Chesapeake Think Tank's Private Advisory Board Back Stage Pass

Who keeps you accountable? Who can you turn to for honest feedback? Where do you get inspired?

Join other local business owners and learn how the Chesapeake Think Tank's Private Advisory Boards are a powerful resource and provide a confidential, supportive and interactive space for small business owners to work ON their business, not just in their business.

Join professional facilitator, Patrick Lee Jr. and members of the Chesapeake Think Tank, as we discuss the benefits of our Private Advisory Boards.

When you're in the throes of the day-to-day life of a small business owner, it's easy to overlook the details that will drive you towards long-term growth. With the help of the members of a Private Advisory Board, you can identify the icebergs, see the blind spots and make better decisions that will grow your business more strategically.

Members of our Private Advisory Boards consist of business owners from non-competing industries who come together to share experiences, ideas, and knowledge to assist each other in overcoming business challenges and help each other grow. We create a confidential and extremely supportive group atmosphere.

Benefits include:

  • Scheduled time to work "on" your business instead of "in" your business
  • Creative thinking and problem solving. A forum for innovation and brainstorming
  • Sounding board of business experts to provide objective opinions
  • Assessing risk management
  • Improved decision making and planning process
  • A place to discuss your "crazy" ideas and not feel compromised
  • A group of trusted advisors to hold you accountable
  • Access to experience beyond your industry experts and biases

The concept of private advisory boards has been in practice since the time of Ben Franklin. Typically, private advisory boards are comprised of business owners (in non-competing industries) who are experiencing a sense of isolation and seek accountability for themselves and their businesses, as well as input from peers. Groups of 8-16 business leaders are led by a professional facilitator and committed members function as each other’s business advisors. The Chesapeake “Think Tank” members meet monthly to get input, ideas, creativity and a reality check from respected and successful peers. Private advisory boards act much like highly paid board of directors of large corporations – only on an informal basis.

Questions to ask if a Private Advisory Board is right for you?

1. Do you desire a safe and confidential place to air your concerns, fears, and wild ideas?

2. Would you like to hear from other business owners who are or have gone through the challenges you are currently facing?

3. Is having 8-16, impartial, experienced business owners, from non-competing companies, at your beck and call an exciting concept?

4. Would you like to brainstorm your concepts, ventures, and decisions before you try them?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, we invite you to join us at our upcoming virtual session to discover how our Private Advisory Board can support you and your business.
