Event description

Description

Our printmaking open session is designed to give printmakers the opportunity to continue their practice in a traditional studio setting. Prior printmaking experience is recommended as this is an open independent studio session. After a brief presentation by the instructor on the use of the printmaking presses, students who show proficiency in the use of the materials and press will be allowed to work independently. Students will be encouraged to experiment, explore ideas and take some risks in the creative process. The session can accommodate printers working in Solar Plate, Screen Printing, Monotype, Woodcut and traditional etching (with zinc plates and nitric acid bath, or copper etching with ferric chloride). Students must bring their own materials! The instructor will provide students with instruction in proper studio and material maintenance. Students will be expected to contribute to a respectful and open environment and participate in discussions on techniques, artistic expression, as well as humanistic and philosophic approaches to art making.

This session runs every Sunday from 1-4pm and can be drop in, or multiple sessions may be purchased.
