Printmaking 101: Drypoint
Overview
This beginner-friendly class is an introduction to drypoint, an engraving method where an image is drawn into a printing plate with sharp tools. No chemicals are needed to create beautiful intaglio prints that can range from precise and delicate to bold and graphic. This class will take you through the entire process of creating and printing drypoints from a plastic plate. You’ll learn how to prepare the plate, use the tools, ink, and print on an etching press.
Please come prepared with a 5 x 7 image that you will trace over using a sharp tool. The image will be created using a series of lines, so keeping it simple will allow enough time to complete the whole process during class time.
