Event description

Description

An exploration of natural mark-making on cloth with plants. Each participant will compose, print and dye three scarves using a variety of techniques bundling, wrapping and heating plants and cloth. The process is often referred to as contact printing, eco-wrapping, eco-bundling, or eco-printing after Australian artist India Flint’s book by that title.

All supplies are provided and included in the fee. You are encouraged to bring plant material from your yard to experiment with in addition to plants provided.

Prepared scarves: fiber content: silk/wool blend, bamboo, and silk will be provided to choose from. In addition to scarves each participant will receive directions for further dyeing, list of suppliers, and reading list/bibliography.

Please dress in clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting messy and bring a pair of rubber gloves. You may consider bringing a sack lunch. At times, Chatterbox BBQ is open across the street.
