Day 1- Pride and Ownership: The Love for the Job - Chief Lasky

Ignite Your Love for the Job

Pride and Ownership holds no punches. Chief Rick Lasky takes a hard look at the fire service and finds it short on the only element that makes it effective: passion. Chief Lasky gives an upfront and honest criticism about the need to reignite the love of the job on every level, from chiefs on down.

Do you have what it takes? Not everyone is cut out for the fire service. It takes only the best to serve the public when people need help most. Pride and Ownership calls for men and women with honor and integrity to measure up to the task.

There’s nothing else in the world like being a firefighter. Every day Chief Lasky remembers why his job is the best in the world and he brings that passion to Pride and Ownership. Chief Lasky revisits the proud history and tradition of the fire service and reflects on the family values and brotherhood that have made firefighting a truly family-oriented vocation.

Day 2- Five Alarm Leadership: Real Leadership With Real People - Chief Salka

Five Alarm Leadership is a dynamic program that is designed to energize and motivate the people in your department to perform and excel in everything they do. This program outlines many of the common situations that fire departments and fire companies find themselves in and presents suggestions and solutions to those situations. Chief Salka, a 35-plus year veteran of the FDNY has experienced many of the challenges and hurdles that your fire department is facing. He has learned through his experience as a lieutenant, captain and chief how to treat people, how to motivate them and even how to discipline them so that they want to come back for more. Issues such as integrity, inspiration, interest, innovation, insight and initiative are all discussed and applied to life in the firehouse and on the fireground. Join Chief Salka as he guides you through your most difficult but vital role as a leader in the fire service.

Day 2- The Engine Company: Lessons for the Most Vital Fireground Operation - Chief Salka

His program is an overview of some of the most important tactical abilities and skills that an engine company firefighter and officer need to have. There is a short list of operations that just about every engine needs to perform at a structural fire. Some departments use preconnects and others do not. Some departments have ladder companies and others do not. Join FDNY Battalion Chief John Salka as he examines the critical work of the engine company and how you can make you engine operations safer, faster and more efficient.
